    Nagelkirk Repeats as MIAA MVP in Women's Swimming & Diving;
Abby and Ryan Johnson Named to All-MIAA Swim Teams -
First Brother/Sister Combo at Calvin To Do So Since 1983

For the second straight year, Calvin's Katie Nagelkirk has been named the
MIAA's Most Valuable Swimmer. And, for the first time since 1983 and for just
the second time in school history, Calvin has had a brother-sister combination
earn All-MIAA swimming and diving honors in the same year.

A senior at Calvin, Nagelkirk hails from Zeeland and is a graduate of Holland
Christian High School. Also a member of the All-MIAA women's swimming and
diving team for the fourth straight year, Nagelkirk is the fifth individual in
Calvin's women's swimming and diving history to receive All-MIAA honors four
straight years. She is joined on the All-MIAA women's swimming and diving team
from Calvin by freshmen Abby Johnson and Lynn Visser, juniors Sara TerHaar and
Brittney Stevens and senior Anne Kuiper.

On the men's side, Calvin landed four individuals on the All-MIAA men's
swimming and diving team, matching its highest single-single total ever.
Receiving All-MIAA citations from Calvin were senior A.J. Penninga and Ryan
Johnson, junior Brad White and sophomore Peter Boumgarden.

Abby and Ryan Johnson are just the second brother-sister tandem in Calvin
swimming and diving history to both earn All-MIAA honors in the same year,
joining Steve and Deb Ruiter who accomplished the feat in 1983 and 1984.

Nagelkirk is the only individual in Calvin women's swimming and diving history
to receive MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer honors. At the MIAA Championships this
past week, Nagelkirk successfully defended conference titles in the 50, 100 and
200 freestyle events. Her winning time of 52.20 in the 100 freestyle was a new
