CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR MONDAY, OCTOBER 21
MEN'S SOCCER
For the second time this year and for the second time in his career, Calvin
sophomore Joel Veldhouse has been named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in
men's soccer.
A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and a graduate of Sioux Falls Christian
High School, Veldhouse scored three goals and assisted on two others last week
as Calvin claimed conference victories over Adrian and Albion to improve to 10-6
overall and 5-4 in the MIAA.
In an 8-0 win over Adrian Wednesday, Veldhouse scored two goals and picked up
two assists. He then scored the game-winning goal with just 9:31 left in
regulation in Saturday's 2-1 win over Albion.
Veldhouse leads Calvin in scoring with 16 goals and seven assists on the year
for 39 points. In conference play, he also leads the MIAA in scoring with nine
goals, four assists and 22 points.
With its pair of victories last week, Calvin reached the double-digit plateau in
victories for the fifth straight year and for the 26th year overall.
Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Alma at 4:00 p.m. The contest
can be heard via real audio broadcast at: WWW.Calvin.edu/sports
