    REPORT FOR January 26, 2002

    MEN'S BASKETBALL

An already-tight MIAA men's basketball race got even tighter Saturday
afternoon as Calvin moved into a three-way tie for first place in the MIAA
standings with Kalamazoo and Hope as the Knights defeated Olivet 91-60 Saturday
afternoon in Olivet's Uton Arena. The victory lifted Calvin's record to 14-5
overall and more importantly to 5-2 in the MIAA. Hope handed league-leading
Kalamazoo its second conference loss of the year Saturday afternoon 75-68 to
create the three-way tie for first place. Albion (4-2 MIAA) stands a half-game
back of the first place logjam.

Calvin will now prepare to host Kalamazoo Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at the
Calvin Fieldhouse. It will mark the first time since the 1994 season that
