MEN'S SOCCER
Calvin extended its winning streak to three games with an 11-1 conference
victory over visiting Adrian College Saturday afternoon on a rain-soaked Calvin
Field. Calvin (7-4-2 overall, 5-2 MIAA) scored four goals in the opening 21
minutes of play and led 6-0 at halftime. The Knights finished with a 41-7 shots
at goal advantage.
Junior Aaron Bouw (Unity Christian) and sophomore Eric Krauss (Grosse Pointe)
led Calvin with two goals apiece. Freshman Joel Vande Kopple (Grand Rapids
Christian) and sophomore David Buursma (Western Michigan Christian) both
finished with one goal and one assist. The goal by Buursma was the first of his
varsity career.
Also scoring goals for Calvin were senior Peter Knoester (Grand Rapids
Christian), sophomores Geol Scheirman (Broomfield, CO), Marcus Decker (Grand
Rapids Christian) and freshman Mike Vollmer (Grand Haven). Junior Charles Telep
(Sewickley, PA) also picked up three assists on the afternoon.
Calvin junior goaltender Justin Bouw (Unity Christian) received his first
starting assignment of the year and responded with six saves in 90 minutes of
action. Casey Morrow and Andy Stewart split time in nets for the Bulldogs
(0-11-1, 0-7 MIAA) with Morrow picking up 12 saves and Stewart three saves.
Morrow scored the lone goal for Adrian, heading in a chip pass from David
Swatosh.
Calvin returns to action Monday night when it travels to Goshen College (IN) for
a non-conference game scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Calvin picked up its fifth consecutive victory with an 11-0 shutout at Adrian
Saturday afternoon. Senior Larissa Onderlinde (Kalamazoo Christian) recorded
her second hat-trick performance of the year with four goals and two assists to
lead the Knights (12-4 overall, 8-2 MIAA).
Calvin led 4-0 at halftime behind a pair of first half goals from Onderlinde and
single goals from senior Tara Bergsma (Calvin Christian) and sophomore Becky
Welsh (Delaware, OH).
Junior forward Tricia Dyk (Western Michigan Christian) added a pair of goals in
the second half to bring her team-leading total to 22 goals. In addition,
freshman Christina VanderJagt (Pittsford, NY) scored a pair of goals in the
second half while Bergsma scored her second goal of the game in the second
period of play.
Calvin finished with a 28-5 shots at goal advantage. The shutout victory was
the seventh of the year for the Knights including their third straight.
With her pair of assists Saturday, Onderlinde moved into fourth place on the
all-time Calvin assist list and into seventh place on the all-time points list.
Dyk also stands among the all-time Calvin scoring leaders as she is third
all-time in career goals and points and is sixth in assists.
Calvin swings back into action on Wednesday when it journeys to rival Hope for a
conference game scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm at the Buys Athletic Complex.
