VOLLEYBALL¯Ahrenholz Named MIAA Player of the Week
For the second time in her collegiate career, Calvin senior Sara Ahrenholz has been named MIAA Player of the Week in volleyball.
A native of Prinsburg, Minnesota and a graduate of Central Minnesota Christian High School, Ahrenholz led Calvin to a runner-up finish at the Kalamazoo College Hornet Invitational this past weekend.
A setter, Ahrenholz averaged 12.45 assists and 3.47 digs over 11 games played over the weekend as she earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
In a tournament opening victory over Olivet, Ahrenholz dished out 22 assists and tallied five service aces. She followed with 36 assists and 11 digs in a 30-24, 30-15, 30-24 win over Millikin University. In a 30-22, 30-23, 30-18 win over Bluffton College, she record 44 assists. Ahrenholz then came up with 35 assists and 11 digs in a 30-23, 30-24, 30-17 loss to Baldwin-Wallace College in the championship finals.
A two-time 1st team All-MIAA selection, Ahrenholz finished 12th in the final NCAA III statistics in assists-per-game average last year, averaging 11.96 assists-per-game.
Calvin returns to action Wednesday evening when it travels to Olivet for a 6:30 pm match in the MIAA opener for both teams.
