Calvin picked up a conference victory over the Kalamazoo Hornets Friday
afternoon. The Knights rolled into Woodworth Stadium and came out with a 6-1
victory. The win keeps the Knights in first place in the MIAA, boosting their
league record to 9-1, and 16-8 overall.
Calvin received a strong pitching effort from junior right-hander Mike Ott, as
he threw nine innings of seven hit baseball. Ott improved his pitching record to
4-1, while only giving up only one run. Calvin turned out a balanced offensive
attack by spreading their 11 hits throughout all nine players. Senior Ross
Hunderman led the Knights with three hits and one RBI. Senior Aaron Wiers also
pitched in with a home run and three RBI's.
Calvin will return to Kalamazoo for a double-header with the Hornets Saturday
afternoon, starting at 1 PM.
