Plakmeyer named MIAA Player of the Week

GRAND RAPIDS MI - For the first time in her career, Calvin sophomore
Jennifer Plakmeyer has been named MIAA Player of the Week in women's
    basketball.

A native of Grant and a graduate of Calvin Christian High School,
Plakmeyer scored 46 points as Calvin split a pair of conference games
    last week.

In a 58-54 loss to Kalamazoo Wednesday night, Plakmeyer came up with a
career-high 27 points, hitting five three-point field goals on the
evening. She then scored 19 points in an 80-45 homecoming victory over
    St. Mary's Saturday afternoon.

On the week, Plakmeyer was 17-of-24 from the floor, 8-of-10 from
three-point range; 4-for-4 from the free throw line and was credited
with six rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Plakmeyer leads Calvin in scoring with an average of 12.8 points a
game. In conference games, she is second in the MIAA in three-point
percentage as she has connected on 41.2 percent (14-of-34) of her
    three-point field goal attempts.

Plakmeyer is the first Calvin player to earn MIAA Player of the Week
honors in women's basketball this year.

The Knights return to action Wednesday evening when they travel to
Adrian for a 7:30 pm contest. Calvin will then host Albion Saturday
    afternoon at 3:00 pm.
