A partnership between a northern Michigan hospital and a local environmental non-profit resulted in a decade-long transformation of a degraded urban creek into an award-winning natural restoration project.  The project combined state-of-the art urban creek restoration design, with the latest in engineered storm water best management practices.  This resulted in improved fisheries and wildlife habitat, neighborhood green space enhancement, flood risk reduction, and a healing environment for cancer patients and families.  The project raised awareness and kick-started other restoration efforts in this critical watershed. Join the BIO295 seminar session as we learn more about this project and efforts towards conservation.
