The 2011 Open Doors Report ranks Calvin second nationally among baccalaureate institutions for the total number of students who study abroad. The college ranks fifth in that same category for the total number of international students studying on campus. Calvin has moved up a spot in both categories from the 2010 Report.
According to the 2011 report, which recounts data from the 2009-2010 school year, Calvin had 597 students studying abroad placing the college second only to Saint Olaf College in this category.
Calvin College currently hosts semester programs in Britain, China, France, Ghana, Honduras, Hungary, The Netherlands and Spain. And, this past fall, the college added a new program in Peru that focuses on Spanish.
In addition, during the month of January, Calvin offers interim courses on six different continents and in more than 30 different countries; students study everything from business in China to archaeology in Jordan to nursing in Belize.
Calvin also moved up a spot in the total number of international students studying at the college for the second straight year. Three hundred and eighty-two international students studied at Calvin in 2009-2010. And in 2011, Calvin enrolled a record number of international students.
