The award-winning January Series of Calvin College is back for its 24th year. From Wednesday, January 5, through Tuesday, January 25, 2011, Calvin College will continue a long tradition of bringing one of the nation's leading lecture and cultural arts series to west Michigan and abroad.

The 2011 January Series features an impressive lineup of speakers, covering a wide range of today's hottest topics, among them social justice, environmental justice and the future of the U.S. public education system.

The lineup of award-winning presenters includes a Hall of Fame baseball player, one of Time magazine's 25 "Heroes" in 2010, a co-founder of Kiva--the world's first peer-to-peer microloan website--and a woman who escaped the Khmer Rouge and now works for social justice in Cambodia, to name a few.

The January Series is expanding its remote Webcasts to 30 locations continent-wide in 2011, and for the first-time the series will be viewed live overseas in Lithuania. For a complete list of remote sites and a lineup of the award-winning speakers, visit the January Series website at http://www.calvin.edu/january

The January Series lectures will be held in the recently remodeled Covenant Fine Arts Center from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. EST Monday through Friday. Admission is free and all talks are open to the public.
