The Petra: Lost City of Stone exhibition at Calvin College completed its fourth week on Saturday, April 30. And week four was the best one yet in terms of attendance.

Almost 3,000 people came to Calvin's Prince Conference Center between Monday, April 25 and Saturday, April 30 bringing the four-week total for the exhibition to 8,508 visitors. In addition Calvin is close to the 25,000-mark for total tickets sold to Petra.

Last week began with 400 people attending Petra on Monday, April 25 and concluded with 643 visitors on Saturday, April 30. In between were days of 580, 379, 355 and 564 visitors for a total for the week of 2,921 visitors.

A number of days last week were augmented by school groups taking advantage of generous offers made recently by two donors who are paying for schools to see Petra: Lost City of Stone at no charge!

This Saturday, May 7 Calvin will host a special Petra Family Festival, featuring Middle Eastern artists, vendors, photographers, tattoo and henna artists, singers, dancers, a clown and even a whirling dervish.

Included in the $15 Petra Family Festival ticket are admission to the exhibition and all of the festival activities (Middle Eastern arts and crafts sessions and a Middle Eastern meal with kebabs, hummus, tabbouleh, baklava and Arabic coffee and other beverages catered by the Pita House).
