Jonathan Keane Named to D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region Third Team;
Calvin Track and Field Athletes Receive USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
BASEBALL
Calvin College junior Jonathan Keane has been named to the D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region third team.
A native of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Keane is receiving D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region honors at the utility spot.
A graduate of Brookfield Central High School, Keane served as Calvin's lead starter in its pitching rotation. When not pitching, he served as Calvin's starting shortstop.
On the mound, Keane was 4-3 with a 3.64 earned run average. He started in 11 games and completed four. He also tossed one shutout and struck out 66 batters in 66.2 innings of work while walking only 10. His 66 strikeouts were the fourth-highest single-season total in Calvin baseball history.
Over his three-year career, he tallied 162 strikeouts and 14 victories which ranks third in the Calvin career strikeout list and 10th on the Calvin career victory list.
At the plate this spring, he batted .265 with 23 RBI and four stolen bases. He belted a team-leading four home runs along with two triples and 11 doubles. In the field, he compiled a .927 fielding percentage and helped turn 13 double plays. He hit seven home runs in his career which ranks ninth on the Calvin career list.
This spring, Keane helped the Calvin baseball team reach the MIAA Tournament for the fifth time in the last six years.
MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Eight members of the Calvin men's track and field team have received Great Lakes All-Region honors as named by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.
Those eight individuals are seniors Andrew Philipose, Ethan Valentine and Noah Buteyn, juniors James Jeninga and Luke Peterson, sophomores Tyler Johnson and Caleb Ferguson and freshman Jonathan Ellis.
In order to receive all-region accolades, individuals needed to be ranked in the top five of their respective event on the NCAA III performance list.
Philipose is from Mount Prospect, Illinois. He is a graduate of John Hersey High School. He was ranked second in the Great Lakes Region in the 10,000 meters (30:51.07).
Valentine is from Mason, Ohio. He is a graduate of William Mason High School. Valentine was ranked third in the Great Lakes Region in the 400 meters (48.25). He was also part of a 4x400 meter relay team that was ranked third in the Great Lakes Region with a time of 3:17.00.
Buteyn is from Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. Buteyn was a part of Calvin's 4x400 meter relay team that was ranked third in the Great Lakes Region.
Jeninga is from Brookfield, Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Jeninga was also a member of Calvin's 4x400 meter relay team that was ranked third in the region.
Peterson is from Holland and a graduate of Holland Christian High School. Peterson was another member of Calvin's 4x400 meter relay ranked third in the Great Lakes Region this spring.
Johnson is from Springfield, Illinois. He is a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. Johnson was ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region this spring in 5,000 meters (14:46.26).
Ferguson is from Naperville, Illinois. He is a graduate of Neuqua Valley High School. Ferguson was ranked second in the Great Lakes Region in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:08.13).
Ellis is from Baltimore, Maryland. He is a graduate of Towson High School. He was ranked third in the Great Lakes Region in the 10,000 meter run (31:21.67).
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Five members of the Calvin women's track and field team have received Great Lakes All-Region honors as as named by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

Dyksen is from Hawthorne, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Hawthorne High School. She has the top time in the Great Lakes Region this spring in the 100 meter hurdles (14.39) and the fifth-best leap in the long jump (18-5.75).
Diekema is from Kenmore, Washington. She is a graduate of Ingelmoor High School. Diekema holds the third-best time in the Great Lakes Region this spring (4:30.89).
Koetje is from Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. She had a regional qualifying time of 37:06.78. Rozell is from Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern High School. She is ranked third in the Great Lakes Region in the javelin throw (136-8). Van Lenten is from Hawthorne, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Eastern Christian High School. She is ranked fourth in the Great Lakes Region in the javelin (127-8).
