WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The No. 13 ranked Calvin women's swimming & diving team took home both MIAA weekly honors on Monday afternoon. The Knights are coming off a 166-134 senior day victory over arch-rival No. 25 Hope College on Saturday. Abby Van Harn was named the MIAA Swimmer of the Week and Sarah Bradley secured the MIAA Diver of the Week title.
A senior from Wheaton, Illinois, Bradley is claiming the Diver of the Week honor for the second-straight week. She has now claimed the title for an MIAA leading fifth time this season. This is the sixth time that she has been the MIAA Diver of the Week in her career.
I am extremely happy for Sarah," said diving coach Aaron Paskvan. "She has had a very strong senior campaign. We are looking forward to championship season."
Against Hope, Bradley started senior day with a victory on the 1-meter board with a score of 218.05.
On the 3-meter boards, she led a Calvin 1-2-3 finish. Scoring 252.15 points for the Knights.
A senior from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Van Harn is claiming the MIAA Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season and eighth time in her career. Van Harn picked up three individual victories on Saturday against Hope.
"Abby had a fantastic meet," said head coach Dan Gelderloos. "She is swimming very well heading into championship season and we are excited heading into the next few weeks."
Van Harn opened senior day with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle, where the Knights recorded a 1-2-3 finish over the Flying Dutch. She recorded a winning time of 1:55.74.
Her second victory of the day came in the 50-yard freestyle, where she touched the wall at 23.94.
Van Harn and the Knights brought out the brooms in the 100-yard freestyle. Van Harn recorded a first-place finish at 52.67.
With the victory over Hope, Calvin finishes the year with a record of 9-3 and a perfect 5-0 MIAA record.
The Knights will return to action on Feb. 21 for the four-day MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships at the Venema Aquatic Center.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Kayla Van Lenten the Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic on Friday.
A senior from Hawthorne, New Jersey, Van Lenten is claiming the honor for the first time in her career.
"It was a breakthrough performance for Kayla," said head coach Bret Otte. "She jumped eight inches higher than her previous best. We look forward to see what Kayla will do next."
On Friday, she broke her personal record in the pole vault at Aquinas. Van Lenten recorded a first-place finish at 10 feet, 8 ¾ inches. Eight inches higher than Lisa Metzger of Aquinas College in second place.
Her performance on Saturday shattered her previous record by eight inches. Previously set at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in January.
Van Lenten currently leads the MIAA at 10' 8.75", ahead of Erin Goggins of Alma College at 10' 8".
Van Lenten and the Knights return to action on Friday when they will compete at the Aquinas Little Meet and the Grand Valley Big Meet.
