MEN'S SOCCER
For the third time this year and for the fifth time in his career, Calvin College junior Bobby McCaw has been named the MIAA's Offensive Player of the Week in men's soccer.
A native of Dubuque, Iowa, McCaw scored five goals last week as the Knights defeated Albion 5-0 and Trine 6-1 last week.
In the win over Albion last Tuesday, McCaw notched his second collegiate hat-trick, scoring one goal in the first half and two more in the second half to lead Calvin to the win.
A graduate of Hemptead High School, McCaw then tallied two more goals in Saturday's 6-1 victory over Trine.
McCaw has 15 goals on the season and is currently ranked sixth nationally in goals scored.
Ranked second nationally, Calvin is currently 12-0-0 overall and 8-0-0 in the MIAA. The Knights travel to rival Hope Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. match.
VOLLEYBALL
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Jenna Lodewyk was named the MIAA Specialty Player of the Week in volleyball on Monday afternoon.
"Jenna had an outstanding week," said Calvin volleyball head coach Dr. Amber Warners. "She played well all around, including being an effective offensive player."
A senior from Villa Park, Illinois, Lodewyk is being named the Specialty Player of the Week for the second time in 2017 and the seventh time in her career.
Last week, Lodewyk averaged 10.70 assists-per-set and had 107 for the week. She finished the week with five service aces, 14 digs and five blocks. Lodewyk recorded 16 kills last week, with a .483 hitting percentage.
At Trine, she recorded a career-high five blocks and notched four kills.
Lodewyk had a hitting percentage of .558 at Olivet and finished with 34 assists. She then closed the week with 34 assists and six digs against Adrian.
Lodewyk and the Knights return to action on Wednesday at Saint Mary's.
MEN'S GOLF
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Sam Holland was named the MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week on Monday afternoon.
"Sam had a great round last week," said head coach Brian Bolt. "Sam had a really important round for us last week and I am happy to see him get recognized."
A freshman from Novi, Michigan, Holland is claiming the MIAA weekly honor for the first time in his career.
At the fourth MIAA Jamboree at Kalamazoo, Holland was the medalist with two-under-par round of 69 strokes.
Holland birdied the final three holes to take first place by four strokes with Josh Gibson and Andrew Goble of Hope tying for second with rounds of 73.
Holland and the Knights are in action again this weekend for the MIAA Fall Tournament.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
LANSING, Mich. - The Calvin men's cross country development team placed 15th with a team score of 392 points at the Lansing Community College Invitational Friday afternoon at Grand Woods Park.
Sophomore Jason Klaasen (Jenison, Mich./Unity Christian HS) was Calvin's top finisher, placing 60th in 27:46. Sophomore Frederick McWain (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central HS) was 64th (27:55) and junior Jim Van Dyke (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) 106h (29:02).
Rounding out Calvin's finishers were freshman Charlie Kornoelje (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) in 113th (29:14) and sophomore Ryan Van Appeldoorn (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) in 135th (29:49).
Siena Heights took first place in the team standings with 76 points.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
LANSING, Mich. - The Calvin women's cross country development team placed 11th at the Lansing Community College Invitational Friday afternoon with a team score of 301 points at Grand Woods Park.
Freshman Annie Needs (Peru, Il./Saint Bede Academy) was Calvin's top finisher, placing 47th in a time of 20:50.
Freshman Tessa Van De Walker (Zeeland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) was 60th (21:11) and sophomore Jena Gaffner (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) 102nd (22:39).
Freshman Kelly Laube (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia HS) was 106th (22:47) and sophomore Lindy Anderson (Milan, Mich./Milan HS) 119th (23:58) to round out Calvin's finishers.
Wayne State took first place in the team standings with a score of 58 points.
