MEN'S SOCCER
Calvin 2, Hope 0

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Calvin men's soccer defeated rival Hope 2-0 Saturday night in front of a standing room only crowd of nearly 2,000 fans Saturday night at Calvin's Zuidema Field. The game marked the first-ever night game in Calvin men's soccer history at Zuidema Field.

Junior Bobby McCaw (Dubuque, Ia./Hempstead HS) scored both goals for Calvin (6-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 MIAA).

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Hope 4, Calvin 0

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Hope women's soccer team handed Calvin its first defeat of the season as the Knights succumbed to the Flying Dutch 4-0 at Hope's Van Andel Stadium. The two teams were deadlocked 0-0 at halftime but Hope scored five minutes into the second half and pulled away from that point on.

Calvin (6-1-0 overall, 3-1-0 MIAA) returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Trine for a 4 p.m. contest.

ELMHURST, Il. - Calvin dropped all three of its matches at a weekend tournament hosted by Elmhurst University this past weekend.

On Friday, Calvin fell to Aurora in three sets and then dropped a four-set decision to Illinois Wesleyan.

On Saturday, Calvin dropped a three-set match to Colorado College.

WOMEN'S GOLF

SAUGATUCK, Mich. - The Calvin women's golf team fell to Hope in a match play competition on Saturday, 6-0.

Sophomore Jessica Zylstra (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe Christian) fell to Abby Meder 8 & 6.
Freshman McKenna Smith (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) lost to Vanessa Drust, 8 & 6.
Ariana Stewart topped freshman Amanda Scholten (Wyoming, Mich./Calvin Christian), 5 & 4.
Junior Katy Hamilton (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central) came up short to Carley Laird, 5 & 4.
Junior Nicole VanderYacht (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian) dropped her match to Megan Klintworth, 6 &5.
Freshman Linnea McDonough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater) was edged by Jordyn Riouz, 4 & 3.
The Knights return to action on Thursday for the first MIAA Jamboree.

MEN'S GOLF

JACKSON, Mich. - The Calvin men's golf team took sixth place in the two-day, 36-hole Irish Hills Invitational hosted by Adrian at the Grande Golf Club in Jackson Michigan.
On Friday, Calvin fired a team score of 327 and then came back with a day two score of 313 on Saturday.
Junior Alec DeJonge (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was Calvin's top finisher on the weekend, finishing ninth individually with a 36-hole total of 151 (77-74) strokes. Junior Mitchell Knoor (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a 36-hole total of 162 strokes (80-82) while freshman Josh Lansky (Park City, UT/Park City HS) had a 163 (82-81).
Freshman Ben Byker (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) had a 164 (88-76) while freshman Robert Lange (Lake Mills, Wisc./Lakeside Lutheran HS) had a 175 (88-87).
Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it competes at the opening MIAA Jamboree which will be hosted by Adrian at the Lenawee Country Club.

WOMEN'S TENNIS

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Calvin women's tennis team won 13 matches at the two-day Hope Invitational this weekend.
In the doubles play, senior Lark Foote (Okemos, Mich./Home School) and sophomore Anna Asfour (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) fell to Nicole Heiniger and Olivia Hanover of GVSU, 8-3. The Maroon and Gold then fell to Abby Perkins and Livia Christman of Grand Valley, 8-2. Freshman Alexis Bonner (Alto, Mich./Forest Hills Central) and freshman Sydney Ellsworth (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) defeated Monica Micoliczyk and Ashlee Polena of UWO, 8-6
Freshman Madeline Brouwer (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) fell to Livia Christman of GVSU in the first match, 6-3, 6-1,. She closed the tournament with a 6-4, 0-6, 10-5 loss to Alysaa Leffler of UW-Oshkosh. Lark Foote was edged by Nicole Heiniger of GVSU, 6-2, 6-0. She was defeated by Samantha Koppa of UWO, 6-0, 6-3. Sydney Ellsworth started the day with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Lesley Kutnick of UWO. She then was topped by Kelley Hodyl of UW-Oshkosh, 6-3, 6-1. Alexis Bonner downed Lesley Kutnick of UW-Oshkosh, 6-2, 6-0.
The Knights return to action on Friday at the ITA Central Regional in Oberlin, Ohio.

MEN'S TENNIS

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Calvin men's tennis team claimed 13 singles victories at the Hope Fall Invitational that took place Friday and Saturday.
 Junior Charlie Fahr (Milwaukee, Wisc./Taos East HS) led the Knights with three singles victories as he posted a 3-1 weekend record.
 Sophomore Rodrigo Castellanos Vaca Guzman (Tarija. Bolivia/Felipe Palazon) was 2-1 on the weekend as was senior David Brown (Lake Zurich, Il./Lake Zurich HS).
Also picking up singles victories during the tournament were sophomores Cobe Benzel (San Dimas, Ca./San Dimas HS), Kyrus Tsai (Glenbrook, Il./Glenbrook South HS), Owen Brookhouse (Whitinsville, Mass/Whitinsville Christian HS) and freshmen Joe Larrea Martinez (Caracas, Venezuela) and Avery Holt (Aurora, Il.).
 In doubles action, Brown and Vaca Guzman were 9-7 winners over the Hope tandem of Danny Kroeze and Carter Smiley while Larrea Martinez and freshman Max Stallings (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) were 8-3 winners over Will Buurma and Tien Anh Tran of Aquinas 8-3.
 Calvin will now prepare to compete at the ITA Central Regional hosted by Kalamazoo College September 29 and 30.
