Serino Named MIAA Women's Swimmer of the Week;
Wolfe and Keane Named to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Players To Watch List

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Anna Serino was named the MIAA Swimmer of the Week for her performance this past Saturday against Hope. This is the second time this season that Serino claimed the honor.
"Anna defined what we talked about pre-meet," said head coach Dan Gelderloos. "She was courageous when she was put in that situation, and she came through with some good times and more importantly, good results."
Serino, a sophomore from Pinckney, Michigan, played a key role in Calvin's 150-146 comeback victory on Saturday over arch-rival Hope, swimming in three of the final four events.
She took first place in the 200-yard freestyle, where Calvin recorded the four fastest times at 1:58.63.
Serino then picked up first-place points in the 500-yard freestyle, with a winning time of 5:18.26.
She helped keep the Knights alive with a third-place finish in the 200-yard IM at 2:17.10.
Serino would get right back in the pool for the final race of the day and swim the anchor leg for the B-relay in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Knights needed to take first and second, and they did. The B-relay took second with a time of 3:42.82, securing the Calvin victory.
Serino and the Knights return to action on Saturday when the Maroon and Gold host Albion at 1 p.m. at the Venema Aquatic Center.

BASEBALL

Colton Wolfe and Jonathan Keane of the Calvin baseball team have been named to the 2017 Division III Players to Watch List by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
A senior first baseman, Wolfe is coming off a standout junior campaign last spring that saw him hit .364 with 12 home runs and 44 runs batted in, establishing new Calvin single-season records in both categories. He also had eight doubles, one triple and a slugging percentage of .744. A native of Eaton Rapids and a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, Wolfe also posted a .991 fielding percentage at first base.
Wolfe was subsequently named to the All-MIAA first team as well as to the ABCA Division III All-Mideast Region third team.
A sophomore, Keane hails from Brookfield, Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Brookfield Central High School. Keane was a multi-position threat for the Knights last spring as a freshman, playing third base while also filling a starter's spot in Calvin's pitching rotation.
As a pitcher, Keane was 4-3 with a 4.17 earned run average. He appeared in nine games and started in eight, tossing one shutout.
He also served as Calvin's starting third baseman, compiling a .922 fielding percentage while helping turn eight double-plays. At the plate, he batted .265 with nine doubles, one home run and 18 runs batted in.
Calvin is scheduled to open its season on March 10 and 11 with a three-game against Oberlin College in Westfield, Indiana.
