Jenna Lodewyk Named CoSIDA Academic All-American;
Men's Soccer Ranked Second in Final NSCAA Division III Top 25 Poll;
Abby Van Harn Named MIAA Women's Swimmer of Week for Fifth Time in Career
VOLLEYBALL
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - For the second consecutive year, junior setter Jenna Lodewyk has been named to the CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-America team in women's volleyball.
"I am really grateful for this honor," said Lodewyk. "Coach is always reminding us about the importance of balancing education and athletics, and that we are students first."
In November, Lodewyk was named a member of the CoSIDA Division III Academic All-District 6 team which includes players from the states of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Individuals are voted to the all-district team by members of the College Sports Information Directors Association of America.
She was a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-America third team in 2015.
Lodewyk is a junior from Villa Park, Illinois, a graduate of Timothy Christian High School. She carries a 3.86 G.P.A. and is majoring in business.
A three-year starter at setter, she earned AVCA second team All-American recognition in 2016, her third career All-America honor. The setter averaged 10.29 assists per set this season and 2.07 digs per set.
A two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll member and a three-time member of the Calvin Dean's List.
"Jenna excels in the classroom as much as she does on the court," said head coach Amber Warners. "She is a very well-rounded person with a lot of gifts. We are really grateful to have her in our program."
Calvin student-athletes have now received CoSIDA Academic All-America honors 118 times.
MEN'S SOCCER
The Calvin men's soccer team has finished second in the final Division III Top 25 rankings compiled by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
It marks the second time in school history that Calvin has finished ranked No. 2 in the final national poll conducted by the NSCAA. Calvin also achieved a final No. 2 ranking in 2011.
It marks the second consecutive year that Calvin has been ranked in the top four in the final poll. The Knights were ranked fourth in the final 2015 NSCAA Division III Top 25 poll.
Under the direction of head coach Ryan Souders, Calvin finished the 2016 campaign with an overall record of 23-3-0, reaching the national championship final this past Saturday in Salem, Virginia. Calvin advanced to the national final with a 1-0 national semifinal win over Brandeis. The Knights were then defeated by Tufts University 1-0 in double-overtime in the national championship match Saturday afternoon.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
For the fifth time in her career and for her third time this year, Calvin College junior Abby Van Harn has been named the MIAA Women's Swimmer of the Week
A native of Grand Rapids and a gradaute of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Van Harn is coming off of a standout set of performances at the Calvin Winter Invitational this past weekend.
At the Calvin Winter Invitational, Van Harn swam all three sprint free races winning the 50 and 100 free and finishing second in 200 free.
Her winning times of 23.53 in the 50 free and 50.69 in the 100 free were NCAA B cut performances.
Despite her second-place finish in the 200 free, her time of 1:50.90 was also an NCAA B cut time.
Van Harn helped the Calvin women's team finish third in the final team standings of the Calvin Winter Invitational.
