VOLLEYBALL

The Calvin women's volleyball team has moved up two spots in the latest set of AVCA Division III Top 25 rankings released earlier this afternoon. The Knights are ranked third in this week's poll after opening the year ranked fifth.

Defending national champion Cal Lutheran is ranked No. 1 while Juniata (Pa.) is ranked No. 2.

Calvin is off to a 3-0 start after winning all three of its matches at the University of Chicago Gargoyle Classic.

The Knights will host Albion Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Van Noord Arena in the MIAA opener for both teams. Albion will enter the match with an undefeated record of 4-0.

The match was originally scheduled to be played at Albion but was moved to Calvin because of safety precautions with high humidity and heat predicted for Albion's Kresge Gymnasium Wednesday night. In turn, Calvin will now travel to Albion for an October 7 conference match. Calvin had originally been scheduled to host Albion on October 7.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

Calvin College junior Abby Van Harn has been named a preseason Division III All-American by Collegeswimming.com.

This marks the first year that Collegeswimming.com has produced preseason All-America teams.

Selections were based on the times of both returning and incoming swimmers with input from coaches and sports information contacts.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Van Harn is coming off a sensational sophomore campaign that saw her post a pair of All-America performances at the 2016 NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships.

At the 2016 national meet, Van Harn placed fifth in the 100 freestyle with a school record time of 50.43. She also anchored Calvin's 200 freestyle relay team to a seventh place national finish.

In addition, she earned NCAA III Honorable Mention All-America recognition in the 200 freestyle (11th place), 50 freestyle (12th place), 800 freestyle relay (16th place) and 400 freestyle relay (14th).
