BASEBALL

For the second consecutive year, Calvin College junior Colton Wolfe has been named to the All-MIAA first team in baseball.

A native of Eaton Rapids and a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School, Wolfe has landed a spot on the All-MIAA first team at the first base position.

In conference play this spring, Wolfe batted .342 in league play with a league-leading eight home runs. He also drove in 28 runs, drew 15 walks and posted an on-base percentage of .471 and a slugging percentage of .696. In addition, he posted a fielding percentage of .986 in league competition, committing only two errors in 139 total chances.

During the season, he was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Calvin women's track & field team earned five All-MIAA honorees after the performance at the 2016 MIAA Outdoor Championships at Olivet. The Knights won their 27th-straight MIAA crown with a two-day score of 268.5 points, 90 points ahead of second-place Hope. Jenna Dyksen, Hope Gaffner, Michaela Meckes, Lauren Strohbehn and Erin Van Lenten all earned All-MIAA honors.
For the second-straight year, sophomore Jenna Dyksen was named to the All-MIAA team. A native of Hawthorne, New Jersey, Dyksen recorded first-place finishes in the 400 meter hurdles, long jump and the triple jump. In the 400 meter hurdles, she clocked in a winning time of 1:03.09. She secured the victory in the long jump with a leap of 5.65 meters and went 11.23 meters to take first place in the triple jump. She was also a part of the 4x100 meter relay that took second place. Dyksen also took second in the 100 meter hurdles at 14.76.
For the second time in her career, junior Michaela Meckes earned All-MIAA honors in outdoor track & field. From Bay City, Michigan, Meckes claimed the MIAA title in the discus throw for the second-straight year. Meckes had a winning throw of 40.43 meters to win the title. She also took sixth place in the shot put with a throw of 11 meters.
For the second-straight year, junior Lauren Strohbehn has claimed All-MIAA honors. Strohbehn finished the MIAA Championships last week as the winner of the 5000 meter run, she tallied a winning time of 17:26.41.
Making her first All-MIAA team Hope Gaffner, a junior from Hudsonville, Michigan, Gaffner won the 10000 meters run last Friday at the MIAA Championships. She finished with a winning time of 37:46.24.
For the first time in her career, freshman Erin Van Lenten has earned All-MIAA honors. A native of Hawthorne, New Jersey, Van Lenten won the high jump with a winning jump of 1.56 meters. She also competed in the 100 meter hurdles.

MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

Nine members of the Calvin men's track and field team have been named to the All-MIAA track and field team. Named to the All-MIAA team from Calvin are seniors Lucas Wolters, David Dadzie, Jeff Meitler and Eric Jipping; junior Zach Nowicki; sophomores Ethan Valentine, Noah Butetyn and Marcus James and freshman James Jeninga.

A native of Vincennes, Indiana, Wolters (South Knox HS) is making his third straight appearance on the All-MIAA (outdoor) team.

At the MIAA Championships last week, he captured the league title in the pole vault for the third straight year, doing so with a vault of 15-8 1/4. During the outdoor season, he was a two-time MIAA Field Performer of the Week.

A native of Accra, Ghana, Dadzie (Ghana International School) took home the javelin title last Thursday night at the MIAA Championships with a throw of 172-0. He also placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 157-8. Dadzie is receiving All-MIAA honors for the first time.

Meitler is from New Berlin, Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School and is receiving All-MIAA outdoor track and field honors for the first time. At the MIAA Championships, Meitler captured the league title in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:59.18.

Jipping (Canton/Plymouth Christian HS) is a first time All-MIAA selection. At the MIAA Championships last week, he took home the gold medal in the shot put (48-4) and was eighth in the discus (126-9).

Nowicki is from Comstock Park and a graduate of Grandville Calvin Christian High School. He is receiving All-MIAA track and field honors for the first time. A two-time MIAA Runner of the Week selection this spring, Nowicki claimed the league title in the 5,000 meter run last Friday at the MIAA Championships, winning with a time of 15:00.90.

Valentine is from Powell, Ohio. He is a graduate of William Mason High School and is making his first appearance on the All-MIAA (outdoor) team. At the MIAA Championships, Valentine took first place in the 400 meters with an MIAA and school record time of 47.32. He also took second in the 200 meter run (22.31) and anchored Calvin's winning 4x400 meter relay team that clocked in with a time of 3:18.33.

Buteyn and James are both from Grand Rapids and graduates of Grand Rapids Christian High School. James ran the opening leg of Calvin's winning 4x400 meter relay team while Buteyn ran the third leg. Individually, James also placed sixth in the 400 meter run with a time of 50.57. A freshman, Jeninga is from Brookfield, Wisconsin. He is a graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Jeninga ran the second leg of Calvin's winning 4x400 meter relay team while also placing second in the 800 meters (1:57.12).

As a team, Calvin claimed its 22nd MIAA title in the last 23 years last week with a first place score of 223.5 points at the MIAA Championships.

MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

For the second consecutive year, Calvin College junior Brett Stoughton has been named to the Division III CoSIDA Academic All-District VI team in the men's at-large division.
The men's at-large division includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
A native of Centerville, Indiana, Stoughton is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration. A graduate of Centerville High School, Stoughton recently completed another standout season on the Calvin men's swimming and diving team.
At the MIAA Championships, Stoughton repeated as league champion in the 200 butterfly with a school record time of 1:51.28. He also placed third in the 100 butterfly with a personal-best time of 49.60 and third in the 200 IM with a school record time of 1:52.55. He also swam on Calvin's MIAA champion 400 medley relay team.

In addition, he was part of Calvin's 400 medley relay team that qualified for the NCAA III Championships and placed 10th to earn honorable mention NCAA III All-America status with a school record time of 3:18.29. A three-time national qualifier, he was part of an honorable mention All-America 400 medley relay in 2015 that placed 16th. In 2014, he was part of Calvin's 400 medley relay team that placed 12th at the NCAA III Championships and also garnered honorable mention NCAA III All-America status.
Stoughton is a three-time All-MIAA selection. During the 2015-16 season, he was selected MIAA Swimmer of the Week once.
At the 2015 NCAA III Championships, Stoughton was named the men's swimming and diving recipient of the NCAA's Elite 89 Award for maintaining the highest cumulative grade point average of any male competitor at the national meet.
A business finance major at Calvin, Stoughton carries a 4.0 grade point average.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

Calvin College sophomore diver Sarah Bradley has been named to the Division III CoSIDA Academic All-District VI team in the women's at-large division.
The women's at-large division includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
A native of Wheaton, Illinois, Bradley is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration. A graduate of Wheaton North High School, Bradley recently completed a standout season on the Calvin women's swimming and diving team.

A two-time national diving qualifier, Bradley was an honorable mention NCAA III All-American this past March, placing 14th on three-meter board at the NCAA III Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina. A 2016 All-MIAA selection, Bradley was the 2016 MIAA runner-up on the one-meter board. She also placed third on the one-meter board (423.10) at 2016 NCAA III Regional Meet and sixth on the three-meter board (422.75).

At Calvin, Bradley is a double-major in Spanish and engineering. Her engineering concentrations are in civil and environmental engineering. She carries a 3.96 grade point average.
