HOLLAND, Mich. - The Flying Dutchmen topped the Calvin baseball team on a cold and snowy day in Holland, Michigan. Hope won the seven-inning game, 8-0. The two teams will finish the second game of the double header at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The game was called off in the first inning due to poor visibility due to the weather.
The Knights had their opportunities in game one but were not able to capitalize against the Flying Dutchmen. Calvin finished game one with eight runners left on base, including three with the bases loaded in the third inning.
Senior Jordan VanderWall (Wyoming, Mich./South Christian) and freshman Steven Seager (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) both recorded two hits in game one.
Sophomore Ryan Stewart (Detroit, Mich./Parkway Christian) took the loss on the mound in the first game. Freshman Logan Walker (Imlay City, Mich./Lapeer East) threw two innings on Monday with two strikeouts.
The game will resume in the top of the first inning with Calvin having runners on first and second base with one out.
