Diemer Named MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week;
Women's Swimming and Diving Sending Six to National Meet;
Men's Swimming and Diving Sending Record 11 to National Meet;
Women's Basketball Moves Up in National Polls
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Calvin College senior McKenzie Diemer has been named the MIAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
A native of Caledonia and a graduate of Grand Rapids South Christian High School, Diemer took fifth at the Grand Valley State Tune Up Invitational with a time of 5:02.75 this past weekend. Diemer is currently ranked 38th on the NCAA III Indoor Track and field performance list.
Diemer and the rest of her Calvin teammates will compete at the first-ever MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Trine University.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Calvin women's swimming and diving team will be sending six individuals to the NCAA III Championships scheduled to be held March 16-19 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Representing Calvin will be senior Megan Schroder (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS), junior Adrienne Wesselius (Sioux Center, Ia./Unity Christian, IA), sophomores Rachel Mattson (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor Huron HS) and Abby Van Harn (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and freshmen Anna Serino (Pinckney/Pinckney HS) and Kendall Murphy (Modesto, Ca./Home Schooled).
Calvin will be fielding relay squads in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays with Schroder set to compete individually in the 50 freestyle and Van Harn individually in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle.
Calvin's 200 freestyle relay team consists of Mattson, Schroder, Wesselius and Van Harn. It's 400 freestyle relay team is made up of Schroder, Mattson, Serino and Van Harn while its 800 freestyle relay team will include Van Harn, Serino, Schroder and Murphy.
All six individuals will competing at the national meet for the first time. Calvin also has the potential of adding two divers to the national meet as sophomores Sarah Bradley (Wheaton, IL/Wheaton North HS) and Nicole Langerak (Jenison/Jenison HS) are both competing at the NCAA III Diving Regional this Friday and Saturday at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
The Calvin men's swimming and diving team will be sending a record 11 individuals to the NCAA III Championships scheduled to be held March 16-19 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Calvin is tied for the fifth-highest group of swimmers from one school heading to the national meet.
Representing Calvin will be seniors Caleb Meindertsma (Annandale, Va./Trinity Christian HS), Mitch Schroder (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS), Johnson Cochran (Mount Vernon, Oh./Mount Vernon HS) and Brandon Muma (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Eastern HS), juniors Brett Stoughton (Centerville, Ind./Centerville HS) and Eli Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant HS), sophomores Max DeYoung (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Eastern HS) and Skyler Fish (Ionia/Ionia HS) and freshmen Jared Britton (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS), Ben Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant HS) and Andrew Kasper (Batavia, IL/Marmion Academy).
Calvin is scheduled to compete in all five relays and have individuals compete in 12 individual events.
The following is a breakdown of the individuals and what they will be competing in at the national meet.
JOHNSON COCHRAN - Cochran will be making his third straight trip to the national meet. He will compete in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke and swim in the 200 medley and 400 medley relays. Cochran is a two-time NCAA III All-American in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.
MITCH SCHRODER -- Schroder will be making his third consecutive trip to the national meet. He will compete 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 8000 freestyle relay.
CALEB MEINDERTSMA -- Meindertsma is making his second trip to the national meet and for the second straight year, he will compete in the 1,650 freestyle, an event he took 11th in a year ago. He will also compete in 200 IM and 400 IM.
BRANDON MUMA -- Muma will be competing at the natoinal meet for the first time. He will compete as a member of Calvin's 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay. He will also compete in the 200 freestyle.
BRETT STOUGHTON -- Stoughton will be headed to his third straight national meet. He will compete as a member of Calvin's 400 medley relay and will also compete in the 100 and 200 butterfly events.
ELI HOLSTEGE -- Holstege is headed to his first national meet. He will compete in the 100 breaststroke and as a member of Calvin's 200 freestyle relay.
MAX DEYOUNG - DeYoung is headed to his first national meet. He will compete as a member of Calvin's 800 freestyle relay team.
SKYLER FISH - Fish is headed to his second consecutive national meet. He will compete in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke and as a member of Calvins' 400 medley relay team.
JARED BRITTON - Britton will compete in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 butterfly and as a member of Calvin's 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams.
ANDREW KASPER -- Kasper will compete in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle events as well as in the 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relays.
BEN HOLSTEGE -- Holstege will compete in the 200 medley relay and in the 100 backstroke.
Calvin also has the potential of adding two divers to the national meet as junior Dirk Tanis (Holland/Holland Christian HS) and sophomore Michael Moentmann (Solon, Oh./Solon HS) are both competing at the NCAA III Diving Regional this Friday and Saturday at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Calvin women's basketball team is back in both the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll and USA Today Sports Division III Top 25 poll released earlier this week.
In the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, Calvin is ranked 19th while the Knights are ranked 22nd in the USA Today Sports Top 25 poll conducted by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Calvin (20-5) is back in action on Friday when it takes on Trine University (18-7) in the MIAA Tournament semifinals at 1 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse on the campus of Hope College.
