Taylor Ten Harmsel Named CoSIDA Academic All-American in Women's Soccer;
Lauren Strohbehn Named USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional Athlete of the Year

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Calvin College senior Taylor Ten Harmsel has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-American in women's soccer. A native of Holland and a graduate of Holland Christian High School, Ten Harmsel has been named to the Division III CoSIDA Academic All-America second team.

Ten Harmsel is receiving CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for the first time. A four-year starter in the midfield, Ten Harmsel concluded her Calvin career this past weekend as the Knights reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA III Tournament before bowing out to Centre College of Kentucky.

This fall, Ten Harmsel collected 10 goals, six assists and 26 points. Of her 10 goals, four were game-winners. She was also 2-for-2 in penalty kick chances. She was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player and landed a spot on the All-MIAA first team for the fourth straight year. She has also been a two-time NSCAA Division III All-Central Region selection.

She finished her career with totals of 33 goals, 23 assists and 89 points. She now ranks 16th on the Calvin career list in goals, 11th in assists and 14th in points.

Ten Harmsel was part of three MIAA championship teams at Calvin as well as three teams that won MIAA Tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament including this year's advancement to the quarterfinals. During her tenure, Calvin produced an overall won-loss record of 63-21-7.

Ten Harmsel is a nursing major at Calvin. She has been a three-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll and a year ago she was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-Region honorable mention list.

Ten Harmsel is the fourth individual in Calvin women's soccer history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Calvin student-athletes have now received CoSIDA Academic All-America honors 113 times.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Calvin College junior Lauren Strohbehn has been named the Division III Great Lakes Women's Regional Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association of America.
As a junior, now with three years of racing under her belt, the Stillwater, Minnesota native won at her conference meet (MIAA) and then stormed to a 10-second win in the Great Lakes Region. Earlier this season she won the Calvin Invitational, earned the victory at the MIAA Jamboree and finished fifth at the AAE Invitational in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
During the second week of September, Strohbehn was named the USTFCCCA Division III Women's Runner of the Week.
This past Saturday, Strohbehn (St. Croix Preparatory HS) took 40th at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships, helping Calvin finish 30th in the final team standings.
