Calvin Women's Soccer Players Receive All-MIAA Honors - Ten Harmsel Named MIAA MVP;
Calvin Swimming and Diving Teams Crack Open CSCAA Division III Top 25 Polls

WOMEN'S SOCCER

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Five Calvin women's soccer seniors earned spots on the All-MIAA teams on Wednesday. Three were named first team All-MIAA honorees, including senior Taylor Ten Harmsel, who was named the MIAA MVP. Calvin also had two players named to the All-MIAA second team. Ten Harmsel is the eighth individual in Calvin women's soccer history to be named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player in women's soccer.
First Team All-MIAA
Taylor Ten Harmsel
A native of Holland and a graduate of Holland Christian High School, Ten Harmsel is receiving All-MIAA first team accolades for the fourth-straight year. Ten Harmsel tallied nine goals and six assists this year including eight goals and four assists in league play. She finished tied for third in the MIAA in goals in MIAA matches.
Paige Capel
A senior forward, Capel is from Hudsonville and a graduate of Hudsonville Unity Christian High School. She is receiving All-MIAA first team honors for the third-straight year. Capel had 12 goals, which leads the league, four assists and 28 points league games this year as she led the MIAA in points for a second-straight year.
Kelsey Hiegel
A senior defender from Mundelein, Illinois, Hiegel helped anchor one of the best defenses in the MIAA. She tallied two goals and two assists on the season, including the game-winning-goal against Kalamazoo on Sept. 17. Hiegel was a part of a defense that posted a shutout in 12 of the 16 MIAA matches this season as well as two shutouts in the MIAA Tournament.
Second Team All-MIAA
Holly Ellerbroek
Ellerbroek, a senior from Holland, Michigan, was named a second team selection for the first time in his career. She led the league 0.44 goals-against-average in MIAA play and in wins at 14.
Jaimie Verbal
Verbal, a senior defender from Whitmore Lake, Michigan, Verbal started all 22 games for the Knights this season and played a vital role in the Knights defensive success. She has tallied a goal and an assist on the year. Verbal was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The first set of Division III national rankings have been released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America and the Calvin men's swimming and diving team is ranked 12th.

Earlier this week, the Knights were ranked 15th by Collegeswimming.com.
