CALVIN KNIGHT SPORTS REPORT FOR AUGUST 18, 2015

Women's Soccer Pegged for Fourth in MIAA Preseason Poll

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Calvin women's soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2015 MIAA preseason coaches' poll.

Kalamazoo is the preseason favorite in the 2015 poll followed by Hope in second and Albion third. Hope won both the 2014 MIAA regular season and 2014 MIAA Tournament titles.

The Knights will be under the direction of veteran head coach Mark Recker who has collected 207 victories in his Calvin coaching career. The Knights are looking to rebound from a 7-10-2 performance in 2014 that included a sixth place league finish of 6-8-2.

Calvin returns nearly 20 letterwinners from its 2014 squad including six seniors that are returning starters.

Calvin will open its 2015 season on September 1 when it travels to nationally-ranked Wheaton (IL) for a non-conference game. Calvin will open its MIAA schedule on September 8 when it hosts Trine at 4 p.m. at Zuidema Field.
