In Calvin's win over Olivet, a balanced scoring effort saw the Knights take a 13-2 lead by halftime. Added urgency by the Comets saw the visitors draw to within a half-dozen at 15-9 midway through the second half, but the Knight offense regained control to close out the nine-goal victory.
The Comets (9-7) wasted no time in finding the back of the net, winning the opening draw control and scoring just over a minute into the contest.
The Knights responded with five straight goals from four players to build a 5-1 lead with about 20 minutes to go.
After another Comets goal, Calvin held Olivet scoreless for the final 16-plus minutes of the first half, while adding eight goals on the offensive end, to hold a 13-2 edge at halftime.
The Knight outshot Olivet 25-8 in the opening period. Calvin also held a 9-5 ground ball advantage and completed 6-of-7 clear attempts in the first half.
Out of the break, Olivet began to close the gap with a pair of goals in the first four minutes.
After a Calvin goal, a 5-1 scoring run for the Comets saw their deficit decrease to 15-9.
The Knights promptly responded with three goals in the next two minutes, and with ten minutes remaining, Calvin's lead was 18-9.
Both teams then scored two goals apiece in the remaining time, and the Knights claimed a 20-11 victory to advance to the MIAA Tournament Final for the first time in team history.
Calvin outshot the Comets 37-22 for the game, also holding a 16-9 ground ball advantage by game's end. The Knights forced Olivet into 16 turnovers while only committing nine.
Individually, freshman Amanda Davio (Okemos/Okemos HS) netted six goals to lead the Knights to go with two assists, while junior Carolyn Forbes (Farmington Hills/Marian HS) and sophomore Emily Cefaratti (Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Central HS) each added four.

Junior goalkeeper Corry Remy (Zeeland/Zeeland East HS) made eight saves in net to earn the win.
For Olivet, Mackenzie Inman scored five goals to lead her team in defeat.
"A lot of credit to Olivet and to their senior leadership for the season that they've had. For us, these were our goals at the beginning of the year," said head coach Blake Boehm. "It has been hard work and dedication that got us to where we are. We are excited about Saturday and we're looking forward to the game, but we have work to do. We can't take it easy, we have to get back to work tomorrow and Friday to get ready for it."
Calvin has now won 10 consecutive games. In Calvin's earlier meeting with Albion, Calvin edged the Britons 15-14, scoring five goals in the final 4:46 of regulation to win the game.
