STUDENT SAAC NEWS

EAST LANSING - Five members of Calvin College athletic teams were selected to attend a workshop this weekend on the campus of Michigan State University.
The leadership summit combined teams from the MIAA and NAIA schools from around Michigan. Topics in the summit included ways to lead your team, women in leadership and life after athletics.
Paige Groom (softball), Kelly Tuinenga (track), Haley Jo Stadnikia (track) Kelsey Pollock (basketball and softball) and Matt DeKryger (soccer) were Calvin's representatives at the summit.
The keynote speaker, a proactive coaching partner and commissioner of the Sun Conference, challenged the athletes to make sure they create a positive environment for their team.
"I thought the sessions were very good and addressed important things going on in athletics," said Stadnikia. "There are items that we can all bring back to help our teams."
