Calvin College junior Maggie Kamp has been named to the latest edition of Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section. Kamp is part of the January 19 print issue that features the Ohio State football team on the cover. The latest Faces in the Crowd edition is not currently available on the Sports Illustrated website.
Kamp is the first individual from Calvin to be so honored since her current coach - Amber Warners - was selected to the Faces in the Crowd edition of the December 27, 2010, issue of Sports Illustrated. Other former Calvin individuals that have received the award from the publication include former Calvin women's swimming standout Becky Weima, former Calvin women's basketball and women's track and field standout Lisa Winkle and former Calvin men's basketball sharpshooter Todd Hennink.
This past fall, Kamp was named the Division III National Player of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association of America. She was also named to the Division III Capital One Academic All-American of the Year in women's volleyball while also being selected as the Division III volleyball nominee for the upcoming Women's Honda Awards program.
