OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (December 18, 2014) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce that Calvin College Head Women's Volleyball Coach Amber Warners has been selected as the 2014 AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year.

Under her direction, Calvin advanced to the NCAA III semifinals for the third straight year and earned its 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA III Tournament.

Earlier this fall she was named the AVCA Division III Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year.

Overall in her impressive 14-year collegiate career, she has a record of 415-76 for a winning percentage of .845, which is second among active NCAA Division III coaches. The Knights concluded the 2014 campaign with an overall record of 31-4. The Knights were ranked No. 3 in the final AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll, and reached the top spot for six weeks during the season. The Knights ranked No. 1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in hitting percentage (.296), assists (12.90/s) and kills (14.10). The .296 hitting percentage also led the nation.

2014 boasted another season where Calvin dominated on its home court, not losing a single match in front of its home fans. She also coached the last four AVCA Division III Players of the Year with Rebecca Kamp in 2011, Lizzie Kamp in 2012, Megan Rietema in 2013 and Maggie Kamp in 2014 (all Kamps are sisters). In addition to the player of the year honors, Warners coached three AVCA All-Americans this year, including the AVCA Freshman of the Year Jenna Lodewyk. Individually, this is her fourth coach of the year honor after previously winning it in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

A native of Holland and a 1990 Calvin College graduate, Warners is now tied for second on the all-time Division III AVCA National Coach of the Year Award list. Former Juniata head coach Larry Bock leads the list with five national coach of the year awards while Warners and former UW-Whitewater coach Kris Russell has both received four national coach of the year awards.

She joins cross country coach Brian Diemer as one of two four-time National Coach of the Year recipients on the Calvin College coaching staff.
