All-MIAA Volleyball Honors Announced - Maggie Kamp Named MVP/Jenna Lodewyk Freshman of Year / Follow NCAA III Tournament Announcements for Volleyball and Men's Soccer Monday / National Player of the Month Honors for Calvin Hockey Player
VOLLEYBALL
The All-MIAA volleyball teams were announced at the conclusion of the MIAA Tournament this past weekend and several Calvin players were honored.
Junior Maggie Kamp was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player while freshman Jenna Lodewyk was named the MIAA's Freshman of the Year. Kamp, Lodewyk and sophomore Laura Danhoff were named to the All-MIAA first team while seniors Emily Crowe and Elise Biesboer were named to the All-MIAA second team.
An outside hitter, Kamp is the 12th individual in Calvin women's volleyball history to be named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player. She is also the third member from her family to receive the award. Older sisters Rebecca (2008, 2010 and 2011) and Lizzie (2012) also received the award. Kamp is from Palos Heights, Illinois, and a graduate of Chicago Christian High School. During the regular season, she has receive MIAA Player of the Week honors three times. In conference play, she led the league in kills-per-set (4.68) and finished fourth in hitting percentage (.308). In a five-set win over Hope on Saturday in the MIAA Tournament finals, she recorded 22 kills. She is also receiving a spot on the All-MIAA first team for the second straight year.
Danhoff and Lodewyk are receiving All-MIAA first team accolades for the first time.
Danhoff is from Willard, Ohio. She is a graduate of Willard High School. A middle-hitter, Danhoff received MIAA Player of the Week honors once this fall. In conference play, she finished second in the MIAA in hitting percentage (.369) and sixth in kills-per-set (2.94).
A setter, Lodewyk is from Villa Park, Illinois. She is a graduate of Timothy Christian High School. Lodewyk was the MIAA Specialty Player of the Week once. In conference play, she led the MIAA in assists-per-set (11.37) and tied for third in service aces-per-set (0.52). She is the seventh individual in Calvin women's volleyball history to be named the MIAA's Freshman of the Year.
Biesboer is from Elmhurst, Illinois. Like Lodewyk, she is a graduate of Timothy Christian High School. Calvin's starting libero, Biesboer was named MIAA Specialty Player of the Week once. In conference play, she finished second in the MIAA in digs-per-set (4.72) and tied for third in service aces-per-set (0.52). In a four-set victory over Hope on October 22, she tallied a career-high 31 digs.
A middle-hitter, Crowe is from Granger, Indiana. She is a graduate of Mishawaka Penn High School. In conference play, Crowe finished third in the MIAA in hitting percentage (.311). She is receiving All-MIAA second team honors for the third straight year.
Ranked number-one nationally, the Calvin women's volleyball team is currently 27-3 overall heading into NCAA III Tournament play. Calvin punched its NCAA III Tournament ticket by claiming its fourth consecutive MIAA Tournament title this past weekend, defeating Trine in the semifinals in four sets and Hope in the championship final in five sets.

MEN'S SOCCER
The Calvin men's soccer team will head into NCAA III Tournament play for the ninth time in 11 years next weekend. The Knights earned an automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament by winning the MIAA Tournament title this past Saturday, defeating Kalamazoo 8-7 in a penalty kick shootout after the game finished in a 1-1 double-overtime tie.

ACHA ICE HOCKEY
The Calvin ACHA ice hockey team is off to a 9-2-1 record. During the month of October, the Knights posted an 8-2-0 record and sophomore Jordan Duncan was a big reason why. A native of Oshawa, Ontario, Duncan was recently named the ACHA's Harrow Player of the Month for his contributions. During the month of October, Duncan was credited with eight goals and 16 assists.
