Danhoff and Vegter Receive MIAA Player of the Week Honors;
Vegter Ranked High in NCAA III Stats / Calvin Men's Soccer Coaches Subject of Feature Stories
VOLLEYBALL
FREELAND, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin middle blocker Laura Danhoff its Co-Player of the Week in volleyball for matches played through Oct. 4. Danhoff shares the award with Hope senior Jenna Grasmeyer.
Danhoff, a sophomore from Willard, Ohio (Willard HS), had a hitting percentage of .462 on 30 kills, and added nine blocks as Calvin won three straight MIAA matches. She had 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .476 in a sweep of Trine. Danhoff is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Calvin returns to action this Friday when it hosts a non-conference triangular that will include teams from Wheaton (IL) and DePauw.
MEN'S SOCCER
FREELAND, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin forward Travis Vegter its Offensive Player of the Week in men's soccer for games played through Oct. 4.
Vegter, a senior from Hudsonville (Unity Christian HS), scored five goals in leading the Knights to two conference wins for the week. He scored four goals, the most by one player in an MIAA game this season, in a 7-0 victory over Trine and added an insurance goal in a 2-0 win over Albion.
Vegter, who has led the MIAA in scoring the last two seasons and leads this year's scoring race with nine goals and 21 points in conference play, is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time this season and seventh time in his career.
Calvin returns to action on October 7 when it travels to Olivet for a 4 p.m. match.

*Travis Vegter currently has 13 goals, five assists and 31 points on the year. In the most recent NCAA III statistics released this afternoon, Vegter is ranked fourth in goals-per-game (1.18), fifth in points-per-game (2.82) and total goals (13) and sixth in total points (31).
