Swimming and Diving Teams Prepare to Host MIAA Championships;
Baseball Picked Fourth in MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll;
Knights to Remember Volleyball Recap

SWIMMING AND DIVING

The 2014 MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships are set to take place this week inside Calvin's Venema Aquatic Center beginning with the 1,650 freestyle competition as well as the 800 freestyle relay events Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Action will continue Thursday, Friday and Saturday with prelims set for 10 a.m. and finals set for 5:30 p.m.

BASEBALL

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Calvin baseball team has been picked to finish fourth in the MIAA preseason coaches' poll while defending co-champion Adrian has been picked as the preseason favorite to win the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball championship.

Adrian received seven out of a possible eight first-place votes in the preseason poll of the league's coaches. Coaches could not vote for their own team. Hope, which was picked to finish second, received the other first-place vote.

Calvin returns several letterwinners from a team that finished fourth in the MIAA standings last year and gained its first-ever MIAA Tournament berth.
MIAA Preseason Poll Results (first-place votes in parenthesis):
1. Adrian (7) 7 pts. 2. Hope (1) 13. 3. Trine 21. 4. Calvin 28. 5. Alma 35. 6. Albion 38. T7. Kalamazoo 41. T7. Olivet 41
Schools will begin non-conference play on February 23, with conference action to begin on March 13 when Calvin travels to Kalamazoo for a doubleheader.

VOLLEYBALL

The Calvin women's volleyball team celebrated its 2013 national title this past Saturday night with an event called "Knights to Remember" inside Van Noord Arena.
