CALVIN KNIGHT SPORTS REPORT FOR OCT. 24, 2013
Calvin to Host MidKnight Madness October 31;
Women's Soccer/Volleyball Crack First Set of NCAA III Regional Rankings
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Calvin Game Day is hosting the second annual "MidKnight Madness" on Thursday, October 31, to introduce the 2013-2014 Calvin men's and women's basketball teams and to rally Knight Nation for the fall postseason and winter sports seasons.
The Calvin men's basketball team returns nine players from a 26-4 team that made an NCAA III Sweet Sixteen appearance last year and captured MIAA regular season and MIAA Tournament titles. The Calvin women's basketball team returns eight players from a successful 23-4 campaign last year that saw the Knights capture a share of the MIAA regular season title and reach the NCAA III Tournament.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. inside Van Noord Arena but students should arrive by 9:30 p.m. so they can purchase the new student section t-shirts and take pictures for the costume contest.
Students are encouraged to dress up because cash prizes will be given to the most creative costumes. The best individual costume will win $100, the best pair/couple will win $200, and the best group of four or more will win $400.
On top of that, everyone that shows up in a costume will be entered into a contest to win an iPad. The night will be full of games, giveaways, and fun!
Last year Calvin student Brendan Coallier won a free semester's worth of books by hitting a half-court shot at Calvin's MidKnight Madness Event.
