Brett Stoughton Named MIAA Athlete of the Week in Men's Swimming and Diving;
Nowicki and Vince Named MIAA Cross Country Runners of Week

MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin's Brett Stoughton its Athlete of the Week in men's swimming and diving for meets through October 19. Stoughton, a freshman from Centerville, Ind. (Centerville HS), helped pace the Knights to a one-two finish in the 200 medley relay at Saturday's MIAA Relays by posting a meet-best :24.85 50-yard backstroke on the lead leg of the relay.

He also swam on four other winning relays - the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley. Stoughton is being honored as Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

Calvin will host Hillsdale and Grand Valley State in a triangular this Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Venema Aquatic Center.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Calvin's Zac Nowicki and Cassie Vince as its Runners of the Week in cross country for meets through Oct. 20.

Men's Runner of the Week
Nowicki, a freshman from Comstock Park (Grandville Calvin Christian HS), helped lead Calvin to a seventh-place finish in a strong field of nationally-ranked teams at the Brooks Invitational meet hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He finished 30th in a time of 25:18 over the 8-kilometer course. Nowicki is being honored as Runner of the Week for the second time this season.

Women's Runner of the Week
Vince, a freshman from Amherst, Ohio (Amherst HS), finished fifth as the Knights successfully defended their championship at the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational. She ran a 21:39 over the 6-kilometer course as Calvin won the meet by 49 points over the University of Chicago, which was ranked higher in the recent Division III national poll. Vince is being honored as Runner of the Week for the first time this season.
