Women's Soccer Gains First Conference Win With Shutout at Trine;
Knight of Nets Set to Take Place at Calvin September 17

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Calvin 4, Trine 0

ANGOLA, IN - The nationally-ranked Calvin women's soccer team got back on the winning track with a 4-0 win at Trine University Thursday afternoon. The win marked Calvin's first conference win of the season.

Calvin (4-1-0 overall, 1-1-0 MIAA) scored a pair of goals in each half to cruise to the win. The Knights outshot Trine 16-3 with freshman goalkeeper Emily Lawson collecting her first shutout in goal for the Knights, recording one save.

Sophomore Taylor Ten Harmsel (Holland/Holland Christian HS) notched three assists on the afternoon.

Calvin's opening goal was scored by sophomore Christina Drost (Denver, CO/Denver Christian HS) with a shot to the far left post. Freshman Kailey Jo (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) then scored her first collegiate goal on a shot from the middle of the box in the 33rd minute of play.

In the second half, senior Danielle Carter (DeWitt/DeWitt HS) scored off a feed from freshman Allie Corp (Livonia/Stevenson HS).

Senior Kelly Koets (Grandville/Calvin Christian HS) closed out the scoring with a goal in the 74th minute.

Calvin returns to action on September 18 when it travels to Saint Mary's for a 4 p.m. game.

MEN'S SOCCER/WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Next Tuesday will not only feature a doubleheader of Calvin/Hope fall sports matchups on the Calvin campus but also a chance for spectators to donate funds to a worthy charity. The day will be called a Knight of Nets and will include a 4:30 p.m. soccer match between Calvin and Hope at Zuidema Field followed by a 7 p.m. Calvin/Hope volleyball match inside Van Noord Arena.

A pre-game tailgate will begin outside Zuidema Field at 3:45 p.m. and continue up until 6:30 p.m.
