Calvin Prepares to Host NCAA III Central Regional for Diving;
Calvin Trio Land All-MIAA Honors in Men's Basketball;
Ticket and Game Time Information for NCAA III Men's and Women's Basketball
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S DIVING
Calvin College is preparing to host the first-ever NCAA Division III Central
Diving Regional. The two-day event will include divers from around the central
region states and will be held inside Calvin’s Venema Aquatic Center.
Action will begin on Friday at 5 p.m. (EST) and will continue on Saturday at
noon. Men’s and women’s divers will be seeking to qualify for the upcoming NCAA
III Championships on both the one and three-meter diving boards.
Admission to spectators will be free for the weekend.
A complete list of competitors and schedule of diving sessions is expected to
be announced Wednesday afternoon when the list of declared divers is released.
The winners of each (one and three-meter) diving competition will gain
automatic berths to the NCAA III Championships. A further number of at-large
berths will also be available.
The number of berths available at Calvin’s regional should be announced no
later than Thursday. The Calvin sports information office caught up with Calvin
diving coach Aaron Paskvan to preview the upcoming regional and filed the

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Three members of the Calvin men’s basketball team have received post-season
honors from the MIAA. Named to the All-MIAA first team from Calvin are seniors
Tom Snikkers and Bryan Powell while junior Tyler Kruis has been named to the
All-MIAA second team.
A native of Jenison and a graduate of Hudsonville Unity Christian High School,
Snikkers is receiving All-MIAA first team accolades for the third straight
year. He averaged 14.9 points and 6.7 rebounds a game in league play this year.
He was a two-time MIAA Player of the Week and is currently eighth on the Calvin
career scoring list with more than 1,400 points.
Powell is from Wyoming and is a graduate of Wyoming Park High School. Powell
averaged 13.8 points a game off the bench and connected on over 42 percent of
his three-point field goal attempts. He is receiving All-MIAA honors for the
first time.
Kruis is from Grand Rapids. He is a graduate of Grandville Calvin Christian
High School. Kruis averaged 12.3 points and 6.1 rebounds a game in conference
play while swatting a league-best 24 shots. He has 129 blocked shots in his
career and recently moved into fourth place on the Calvin career list.
Calvin is currently ranked 12th nationally and will carry a 24-3 record into a
first round NCAA III Tournament game at 19th-ranked Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute,
Indiana. The first round game, scheduled for 7 p.m. (EST), is the only one of
31 men’s basketball first round matchups featuring two teams in the top 20.

Game times and ticket information for the Calvin men's and women's basketball
games this weekend in the NCAA III Tournament have been announced.
On the women's side, Calvin will face St. Thomas (MN) at 6 p.m. (EST) Friday
with host Cornell College set to face St. Scholastica in the game to follow at
8:30 p.m. Friday's winners will play in the regional final Saturday at 8 p.m.
(EST).
Tickets are prices are as follows: General admission is $6 for adults, $3 for
senior citizens, students and children.

On the men's side, Calvin will travel to Rose-Hulman for a first round game
Saturday night at 7 p.m. (EST). Ticket information is as follows:

Students, Senior Citizens, Children Ages 3 and Up - $3
Children Age 2 and Below – Free
Tickets will be available in the lobby of the Sports and Recreation Center
beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. A total of 650 tickets for Calvin fans will
be held at the Sports and Recreation Center. An additional 300 tickets will
also be available at the door.
