Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams Receive All Academic Team Award from USTFCCCA

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

The Calvin men's and women's track and field teams have once again received the All-Academic Team Award from the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association. The Calvin women's team has now received the award 12 consecutive years while the Calvin men's team has received the honor four straight years.

In order to receive the award, a team needed to have posted a minimum 3.10 grade point average or better. The Calvin women's team posted a 3.53 grade point average to rank seventh among 137 women's teams that received the award. The Calvin men's team recorded a 3.20 grade point average and was one of 74 men's teams to receive the award.

Earlier in the week, both Calvin teams had four individuals receive individual all-academic honors from the USTFCCCA. Receiving individual honors from the men's team were seniors Nick Kramer and Dan Kerr and juniors Matt Vander Roest and Greg Whittle. On the women's side, senior Kaitlin Diemer and juniors Carissa Verkaik and Alyssa Penning and sophomore Nicole Michmerhuizen were so honored.

Both Calvin track and fields were led by third-year head coach Bret Otte. His men's and women's teams have received the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award all three years during his tenure.
