Calvin Track and Field Athletes Post NCAA III Provisional Qualifying Marks at Mike Lints Open

ALLENDALE - The Calvin men's and women's track and field teams continued their indoor campaigns at the Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State University Friday night.
Top marks for the Calvin men's team included:
*Junior Greg Whittle taking third in the mile run with an NCAA III provisional qualyfing time of 4:14.23.
*Junior Matt VanderRoest winning the 5,000 meters with an NCAA III provisional qualifying time of 14:45.43.
*Junior Aaron Meckes taking third in the in the shot put with an NCAA III provisional qualifying mark of 53-0 3/4.
Top marks for the Calvin women's team included:
*Senior Jodi Hoekstra taking second in the 5,000 meters (17:53.42).
*Junior Alyssa Penning taking fourth in the 5,000 meters (18:00.54).
*Sophomore Nicole Michmerhuizen taking fifth in the 5,000 meters (18:10.45)
*Freshman Sarah Danner taking seventh in the 5,000 meters (18:20.00)
*Sophomore Hillary Banning taking fifth in the triple jump (33-2).
Both Calvin teams will host their own Calvin Invitational this Friday inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center on the Sturrus Track.
