Volleyball Team Ranked Number-One in AVCA Division III Pre-Season Top 25 Poll;
Men's Soccer Team Ranked Seventh in NSCAA Pre-Season Division III Top 25 Poll
VOLLEYBALL
The defending national champion Calvin women's volleyball team will enter the 2011 season as the number-one ranked team in Division III volleyball. The Knights are ranked number-one in the Division III Top 25 pre-season poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association late this afternoon. The Knights received 36 of a possible 37 first place votes. A year ago, Calvin captured its first-ever national title, defeating Emory University (Ga.) in four sets in the national final, finishing 32-4 overall. Emory University is ranked second in the pre-season Top 25 poll and garnered the other first place vote. Washington University (Mo.) - the 2009 national champion - is ranked third in the pre-season poll while Christopher Newport (NC) is ranked fourth and Wittenberg (Oh.) fifth.
Calvin is scheduled to open its 2011 season on September 2 at a tournament hosted by Thomas More College College (Ky.). Calvin is scheduled to face four teams during the regular season that are ranked in the pre-season Top 25 poll as the Knights will face fifth-ranked Wittenberg on September 16, 12th-ranked Heidelberg on September 17, 11th-ranked Carthage on October 14 and 15th-ranked Hope on September 28 and October 28.

MEN'S SOCCER
The Calvin men's soccer team is ranked seventh in the pre-season Division III Top 25 poll released by the National Soccer Coache Association of America. A year ago, Calvin finished 16-3-5 overall and reached the national quarterfinals of the NCAA III Tournament. Calvin also gained a share of its fourth consecutive MIAA title.
The Knights are scheduled to open their 2011 season on September 1, taking on Rochester University of New York.
