MEN'S SOCCER

Two members of the Calvin men's soccer team have been named to the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-North/Central Region team.
Named to the team from Calvin are seniors Ryan Bratt and Scott Hooker.

The two players are the first members of the Calvin men's soccer program to
receive NSCAA Scholar All-Region honors. Both players also received ESPN
Academic All-District IV honors earlier this fall.

Bratt is from Silver Spring, Maryland. He is a graduate of Washington
Christian Academy. At Calvin, Bratt holds a double-major of English and
religion. He carries a 3.44 grade point average.

A goalkeeper, Bratt posted a won-loss record of 16-3-5 this year along with a
goals-against-average of 0.50. He collected 74 saves during the season and
recorded 13 shutouts. An All-MIAA second team selection this fall, Bratt was
stellar in NCAA III Tournament play, recording shootout victories against both
Dominican University (second round) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (third round).
Bratt finished his Calvin career 4-0 in NCAA III Tournament shootout
situations. He was also named to the NSCAA All-Central Region third team.

Hooker is from Hudsonville and is a graduate of Unity Christian High School. A
biology major, Hooker carries a 3.59 grade point average. He has been a
two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Earlier this year, Hooker was named to the NSCAA Division III All-Central
Region third team. During the season, he finished second on the Calvin squad in
scoring with 14 points on the strength of four goals and six assists. One of
his goals was a memorable score in the closing minutes of a critical 1-0
victory at Olivet on October 27. He also converted a game-winning penalty kick
goal in a 2-1 win over Albion on November 3. He was also named to the All-MIAA
first team at the conclusion of the 2010 MIAA season.

Under the direction of head coach Chris Hughes, the Calvin men’s soccer team
finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 16-3-5, earning a share of
the MIAA title with a 9-2-3 conference record. The Knights also advanced to the
NCAA III Tournament for the fourth straight year, reaching the national
quarterfinals before falling to Wisconsin-Oshkosh 1-0 in an “Elite Eight” game.
Calvin finished sixth in the final d3soccer.com Top 25 poll and seventh in the
final NSCAA Division III Top 25 poll.
