CALVIN FALL SPORTS TEAMS SET SCHOOL RECORD
When the Calvin men's and women's cross country teams punched their tickets to the NCAA III Championships this past weekend at the Great Lakes Regional meet on Saturday, a new Calvin fall sports record was established. The men's and women's cross country teams were the fifth and sixth Calvin fall sports teams to earn spots in their respective NCAA III Championships competition, breaking the previous school record of five.
Last month, the Calvin men's golf team was the first team to earn a spot in the NCAA III Championships as the Knights, under the direction of head coach Brian Bolt, captured the MIAA title and will compete at the NCAA III Championships in May in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Calvin women's soccer team, under the guidance of head coach Mark Recker, was the next team to qualify automatically for the NCAA III Tournament, doing so by winning the MIAA Tournament on November 6 On November 7, the Calvin women's volleyball team led by head coach Amber Warners and the Calvin men's soccer team led by head coach Chris Hughes received at-large berths to the NCAA III Tournament.
The men's and women's cross country teams under the leadership of head coach Brian Diemer then brought the total to six with first place finishes at the Great Lakes Regional meet on Saturday.

Prior to this year, Calvin had qualified five fall sports teams for NCAA III Tournament play in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009 but never six until this year.
