Calvin/Hope X-Country Teams Combine for Another Edition of Rival Relay;
Men's and Women's Track & Field Athletes Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
 
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

For the cross-country programs of Calvin and Hope, the rival-tinged
relationship does not end with the season. For the second off-season in a row,
the schools have taken their longstanding rivalry to a friendly setting.

Last weekend’s “Rivalry Relay” between the two schools consisted of an almost
36-mile relay divided into seven legs. The race began at John Ball Park in
Grand Rapids and ended at Tunnel Park in Holland. The first six legs were five
miles each, with the anchor leg finishing the final 5.85 miles.

MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the men’s 2010 Division III All-Academic
Track & Field team. A total of 202 student-athletes representing 74
institutions compose the group. Calvin’s Jed Christiansen, Aaron Goodman and
Ben Van Wyk have all been selected to the honor list.

WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the men’s 2010 Division III All-Academic
Track & Field team. A total of 330 student-athletes representing 99
institutions compose the group. Calvin was second among all squads with 10
individuals so honored with Wartburg first with 12. Individuals from the Calvin
women’s track and field team that received USTFCCA All-Academic status include
Rachel Boerner, Gretchen Braymer, Sarah Dugan, Nicole Farr, Jordan Gabrielse,
Jessica Koster, Joy Leach, Alyssa Penning, Mary Tolsma and Rebekah VanDyk.
