CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR JUNE 24, 2010

Koster Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American;
Calvin 14th in Final Learfield Director’s Cup Standings

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK AND FIELD

For the second consecutive year, Calvin College senior Jessica Koster has been
named a first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American.

Koster is receiving ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America accolades once
again in the women's college track and field/cross country college division.

The college division of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program
includes NCAA II, NCAA III and NAIA schools. The Academic All-District and
All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Information Director’s
Association of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible for nomination, an individual
must be a starter or a key reserve with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30.

Koster is from Grand Rapids and is a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High
School. She is making her second straight appearance on the all-district team.
A year ago, she was also named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America
first team.

A cross country and track and field standout, Koster has earned All-America
accolades three times in her Calvin running career - twice in track and field
and once in cross country. This past fall, she pciked up an All-America berth
in cross country by placing 34th at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships.
Last month, she claimed All-America honors for the second straight year in the
10,000 meters, placing sixth in the event at the NCAA III Outdoor Track and
Field Championships. At the 2009 national meet, she placed fifth in the 10,000
meters.

A three-time All-MIAA selection in track and field, Koster was a two-time MIAA
champion in the 10,000 meters and the 2008 MIAA champion in the 5,000 meters.
In cross country, Koster was a three-time All-MIAA selection and was also named
the MIAA’s Most Valuable Runner in 2009.

A psychology major intending to continue on into the field of occupational
therapy, Koster was graduated from Calvin while holding a 3.97 grade point
average. She has been a regular member of the Calvin Dean’s list and the MIAA
Academic Honor Roll.

Koster is the sixth individual from Calvin to receive ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-America honors during the 2009-10 academic year. During the
2009-10 academic year as Rebecca Kamp (volleyball) was named to the first team,
Greg Snapper (men’s soccer) named to the second team and Allison Boender
(women’s soccer) named to the third team in the fall. Monica Bressler
(women's swimming and diving) was named to the third team earlier this month in
the women's at-large division to represent Calvin's winter sports athletes
while Melissa Oosterhouse (women's tennis) was a first team selection, also
receiving her award in the women's at-large division last month.

Calvin has now had its athletes receive ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America
accolades 86 times including 55 times in the last 12 years.

DIRECTOR’S CUP STANDINGS UPDATE

Earlier today, a correction was made in the final Division III Learfield
Director’s Cup standings. The correction involved Johns Hopkins University
which was not credited with 25 points for its finish in men’s lacrosse. The
points were correctly awarded to Johns Hopkins in a new set of final standings
released this afternoon, moving Johns Hopkins past Calvin and into 13th place
in the final standings.

Calvin now finishes 14th in the final 2009-10 Learfield Director’s Cup
standings. The updated point totals and final standings can be found on-line
