Women's Tennis Falls at Grand Valley State;
Softball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader at Judson
WOMEN'S TENNIS
Grand Valley State 7, Calvin 2
ALLENDALE -- The Calvin women's tennis team dropped to 13-3 overall with a 7-2 loss at Division II Grand Valley State University Friday afternoon. Friday's match featured a pair of nationally-ranked teams as Grand Valley State entered the match ranked 31st in the latest ITA Division II National Rankings while Calvin came in ranked 30th in the most recent ITA Division III National Rankings.
Calvin picked up a point at No. 3 doubles with seniors Elisabeth Geenen (Holland Christian HS) and Rachel DeGroot (Lombard, IL) picking up an 8-2 win. In singles play, junior Melissa Oosterhouse (Grand Rapdis Christian HS) rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles to improve to 18-1 in singles play.
Calvin returns to action next Wednesday when it hosts Albion at 4 p.m.

ELGIN, IL - Calvin dropped both ends of a doublehead at Judson University Friday night, falling 9-1 and 13-2. The Knights are now 8-11 on the season heading into Saturday games against Monmouth and North Central.
In Friday's opener, Judson (22-18) scored three runs in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to put the game away. Calvin's lone run came in the top of the third on a solo homerun by freshman Kyleigh Fri (Allendale HS) - her first as a collegiate player. Freshman Shelby Mast (Hudsonville HS) took the loss to fall to 7-9 on the year.
In game two, Judson scored nine runs in the first two innings to take control early. Sophomore Marie Prins (Unity Christian HS) had a hit in game one and game two, raising her season batting average to .415. Junior Sass VanRooyen (Beamsville, ON) also had a double for the Knights in defeat. Senior Mandy Johnson (Northpointe Christian HS) took the loss for Calvin to fall to 1-2 on the year.
Calvin's game against Monmouth on Saturday is slated to start at 10 a.m. (CST) with its game against North Central scheduled to start at noon (EST).
