Jon Kuiper Ties for 19th at Capital University Purple and White Invitational;
Calvin Men's Tennis Player Matt DeVlieger Continues Comeback from Scuba Diving Accident
 
MEN'S GOLF
 
LOCKBOURNE, OH - Calvin College senior Jon Kuiper completed competition at the 36-hole Purple and White Invitational this weekend host by Capital University. Kuiper (Grand Rapids Christian HS) finished the tournament tied for 19th place with a two-day total of 161 strokes, firing a round of 78 and then carding a score of 83 on Saturday.
 
Tyler Light of Malone was the tournament medalist with a two-day total of 149 strokes.
 
The Calvin men's golf team is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, competing at a tournament hosted by Trine University at 11 a.m.
 
MEN'S TENNIS
 
This past December, Calvin College junior Matt DeVlieger of Northpointe Christian High School was involved in a scuba diving accident that left DeVlieger paralyzed. DeVlieger has been undergoing therapy in Miami, Florida, since the accident and has made remarkable progress in his therapy.
 
Calvin College sports information student assistant Derek Neice caught up with Matt DeVlieger's twin brother Andrew recently and filed a feature story on Matt's comeback including a visit on April 2 with professional tennis stars Andy Roddick and Rafael Nadal.
