Boerner Advances to Saturday Final in 400 Meters at NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships; Baseball At Rose-Hulman Institute Rained Out Friday Night
NCAA III INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS DAY ONE REPORT
GREENCASTLE, IN -- Calvin College junior Rachel Boerner has advanced to the finals of the women's 400 meters at the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships at DePauw University.
A native of Bergenfield, New Jersey, Boerner posted the fourth-fastest performance out of Friday's prelims, clocking in with a time of 56.95. Boerner will run in the second of two heats (four individuals in each heat) in Saturday's finals.
A graduate of Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, Boerner is making her second strip to the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field championships. A year ago, she was a member of Calvin's 4x400 meter relay team that finished fourth at the national (indoor) meet.
Boerner is one of three Calvin athletes scheduled to compete on Saturday. Senior Jed Christiansen will compete in the men's 5,000 meter run while junior Sarah Reasoner will compete in the women's shot put. The official championships Web site will feature a live video stream on Saturday. Calvin's athletes are all scheduled to compete between 3:00 p.m. (EST) and 5 p.m. (EST)

TERRE HAUTE, IN - Calvin's start to the 2010 season was again delayed as the opener of a three-game weekend series at Rose-Hulman Institute Friday night was rained out. The two teams will attempt to play a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon. Friday's scheduled nine-inning game will not be made up.
