Calvin Sending Three to NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Calvin will be sending three individuals to the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Representing the Calvin men's team will be senior Jed Christiansen. Representing the Calvin women's team will be juniors Rachel Boerner and Sarah Reasoner.
Christiansen (Greenville, PA/Greenville HS) will be making his second consecutive trip to the NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships. He will compete in the 5,000 meter run where he is seeded fourth (14:32.06). A year ago, Christiansen took third in the 5,000 meters at the indoor national meet.
Boerner (Bernfield, NJ/Hillcrest Lutheran Academy) will be making her second straight trip to the NCAA III Indoor Championships. Last year, she was a member of Calvin's third place 4x400 meter relay team. At the NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships last spring, she was the national runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles. Boerner will compete in the 400 meters this weekend. She is seeded fourth with a time of 56.93.
Reasoner (Cambridge, MN/Cambridge-Isanti HS) will be making her first trip to the NCAA III Indoor Championships. Last spring, she qualified for the NCAA III Outdoor Championships in both the shot put and discus and grabbed All-America honors with an eighth place finish in the shot put. Reasoner will compete in the shot put this weekend where she is seeded 10th (44-7 1/2).
