WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Calvin College senior Brook Van Eck has been named to the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District IV third team in women's basketball in the college
division.

A graduate of Lowell High School, Van Eck carries a 3.68 grade point average
while majoring in special education.

A senior forward, Van Eck is averaging 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds a game
this year on a Calvin team that is currently 18-3 overall and ranked ninth
nationally. Earlier this season, Van Eck was named the Most Valuable Player of
the Wilmington Tip-Off Tournament and was later named to the all-tourmament
team of the Olivet Thanksgiving Classic.

Two weeks ago, Van Eck became the 10th player in Calvin women's basketball
history to reach the 500 rebound plateau for a career. She is currently ranked
ninth on the Calvin career list with 528 rebounds.

A year ago, Van Eck was named to the All-MIAA first team and finished second
in the MIAA scoring race.

member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Van Eck is one of two MIAA players to earn all-district honors as Alma's Lacey

SUPER BOWL SPECIAL

Over the last nine years, Ian Tigchelaar has had a first-hand look at the
resurgence of the New Orleans Saints.

A 1995 Calvin College graduate, Tigchelaar has been with the Saints’
organization since 2001 and currently serves as the director of
business/marketing operations with the NFL franchise. This week, he is in
Miami, Florida, with the team for its first-ever trip to the Super Bowl where
the Saints will face the Indianapolis Colts.

Tigchelaar’s journey to the front office of an NFL organization began in a bit
of an unusual way. After graduating from Calvin with a degree in social work in
1995, he worked for several years in ministry including a stint as a Young Life
leader in Vero Beach, Florida. Looking for a career change, Tigchelaar
relocated to New Orleans in 2001 and landed an internship with the Saints after
interviewing at a job fair.
