JIM DETERS UPATE
ARKON, OH -- Jim Deters continues to move up the Minor League ladder. On Tuesday, Deters was promoted to the Akron Aeros, a Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. Deters had previously been with the Kinston Indians, a high Class-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.
At Kinston this year, Deters was 3-2 with a 3.20 earned run average in 17 appearances, Shortly before his promotion to Akron, Deters was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week after throwing a nine inning, complete game shutout against the Wilmington Blue Rock. Deters, making a spot start, threw 87 pitches, giving up three hits, no walks and striking out three.
Deters then made a successful Double-A debut with the Akron Aeros on June 17 against the Bowie Baysox, tossing a inning of shutout relief in a 7-2 win, striking out two batters.
Deters is a 2005 graduate of Calvin College. He is also a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School.
The Akron Aeros are members of the Double-A Eastern League and currently hold a three-game lead for first place in the Southern Division standings over the Bowie Baysox with an overall record of 43-27. For more on the Easter League, please visit the league website at: http://www.easternleague.com/
