John Boumgarden Finishes Calvin Swim Career - Knights Place 53rd at NCAA III Championships

OXFORD, OH -- Calvin College senior John Boumgarden concluded his collegiate swim career on Saturday at the NCAA III Championships by finishing 26th in the morning prelims of the 100 freestyle with a season-best time time of 46.23. The time was not enough to advance Boumgarden into Saturday's championship round but it did mark an improvement from his seed position as he entered the race seeded 31st with a time of 46.44.
On Friday night, Boumgarden collected honorable mention All-America honors in the 100 butterfly, placing 15th in the race. Boumgarden's finish on Friday night enabled Calvin to finish 53rd in the final team standings with two points.
Kenyon College captured its 29th consecutive national title on Saturday night, finishing with a first place score of 635 points.
