Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams Post Strong Efforts At Anderson University Fred Wildt Invitational

WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

For the third straight year, Calvin College junior diver Erica Deur has qualified for the NCAA III Championships. A native of Holland and a graduate of Holland Christian High School, Deur will compete in both the one and three-meter diving competitions. A four-time All-American, Deur is the defending national champion on the one-meter board. She also was the national runner-up on the three-meter board last year and received Division III National Diver of the Year honors for her performance at the national meet.

As a first-year diver in 2006, Deur was the national runner-up on the one meter board and took fourth place on the three-meter board.

The 2008 NCAA III Champioships are scheduled to be held March 13-15 in Oxford, Ohio. The competition will be held at the University of Miami of Ohio.

Deur is the only diver from Calvin to qualify for the national meet. Calvin senior Lis Beal (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) and sophomore Casey Herman (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville HS) had NCAA III conditional qualifying scores but did not make the final cut.

Deur will be one of nine athletes from Calvin scheduled to compete at the national meet. She will be joined by seniors Kat Vinson (Kaneohe, HI) and Stephanie Duncan (Long Grove, IL/Adlai E. Stevenson HS), juniors Cara VanWoerkom (Wyoming/Calvin Christian HS) and Julie Wolfe (Westerville, OH/Westerville North HS), sophomores Laura Price (Warren, PA/Warren HS), Emily Roberts (DeKalb, IL/DeKalb HS) and Maggie Vail (Portage/Portage Northern HS) and freshman Kendra Kinzer (Fort Wayne, IN/Homestead HS).

A year ago, Calvin took fourth at the NCAA III Championships with 251 points, recording its best-ever national team finish.
